Business profile & accounting basis
Set your business type, country, currency, and cash vs accrual basis.
Business profile & accounting basis#
Your profile tunes how AgentBook categorizes, taxes, and reports. Find it under Configure → Business profile (or Settings → AgentBook).
What to set#
- Business type — freelancer, sole proprietor, consultant, contractor, or small business. Affects default categories and deductions.
- Country / region — drives tax rules and form types (e.g. US 1040/Schedule C, Canada T2125, AU). This is separate from where employees are paid. Currently supported end-to-end: US, Canada, and Australia — see Supported countries for what "supported" means per country. (A couple of other countries may still appear as selector options from earlier development — pick one of the three above until we confirm the others are ready.)
- Currency — your booking currency. Invoices can be quoted in another currency and converted for the books.
- Accounting basis — cash or accrual.
Cash vs accrual — which do I pick?#
| Cash | Accrual | |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue counts when… | payment is received | the invoice is issued |
| Expenses count when… | money leaves | the bill is incurred |
| Best for | most freelancers & sole props | businesses tracking receivables/payables |
You can view most reports on either basis on demand with a basis toggle — the setting here is just your default.
